It is a great lens, ...when I bought it i thought it was the end of the road ... but then I discovered Leica
So many good lenses out there, just not enough money
I tend to decide which lens to take when I see its bokeh (hence my humble collection) , this one is quite good but pastel-like which may be too plasticky at times ... but I see others exibit the same behaviour...
At night things change... and it is excellent performer in every way and has no real flaws unlike other 50's.
posted this elsewhere but figured it was more appropriate here – an example of typical rokkor 58/1.2 performance wide open in a worse case scenario (bright back lighting) on a NEX-7, which has much higher pixel density than say the d800: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8459/8046348865_78f640510e_o.jpg

yeah, at 100% it could be sharper and contrastier, but it'll do and that's an incredible pixel density (note: focus is on the eyes).
