4K is more valuable as an "acquisition" format than a distribution format.
I do a lot of industrial video. The business ain't what it used to be. What used to be scripted, professionally acted communication pieces has devolved into "bring the camera out, and we'll get a bunch of people talking about the topic in the lunch room, then edit that down and write a script about it."
Having the extra pixels in an interview allows reframing (still folks think "cropping") Tightening the shot between edits of disparate ideas helps the edit flow. Its done all the time now, you just lose resolution. Shooting a scene slightly loose in 4k allows you to pull a tight shot out of it while still ending up at HD resolutions.
