Canon user switching to Nikon here. It is near impossible to find good used Nikon gear in Canada.
The problem as someone mentioned above is in two parts:
- more Canon users
- Canon as created a long upgrade path for its users: for each focal length, you can get 2,3 and even 4 lenses. Each one better than the previous. Also, each lens is very well priced according to its segment. Reinforcing the "upgrade path" concept. Compare this to Nikon where there isn't much choice for each focal length. You can either pick the old version or the new one, never a "cheap" version. So when people got what they need, they don't feel the need to upgrade.

If a person did not want the full 36mp files then why not do 24mp? It's up to the person using it if he wants to use the full potential.

You only do it in crop mode no sRaw. I wish Nikon has sRaw like in Canon. Over a month of searching for used lenses and nothing in sight.

I think Fred's site magnifies the difference as well. There is a Nikon site out there that has a pretty big classified section, but I don't know of a Canon equivalent. Perhaps more Canon users end up here out of lack of other options? There is also a bit of a positive feedback loop existing. More Canon users means more used Canon gear available means more Canon users may think of picking something up used first. Whereas Nikon users may be discouraged by the lack of a used market and either hold onto their old gear and buy new or trade it into KEH or B&H or wherever. I do know that in looking for some Nikon lenses I had to shop around a bit to find what I want used. When looking for Canon lenses I have never failed to find what I am after here at a fair price.

I think another eason Nikon folks do not sell lenses as much as Canon users is Nikon's 5-year warranty on lenses. The warranty is not transferable therefore value is lost when the lens is sold. This makes people more likely to keep what they buy (at least for 5 years).

On the pro wedding forums there most of the people switching 4-5 years ago were going from Nikon to Canon to get better high ISO performance (Dx to 1D MK II or 5D cameras). For the past two years I have seen people going the opposite direction and the most often stated reason is frustration with the Canon cameras' autofocus accuracy.
Autofocus has been a problem for many years with the Canon cameras and lenses with many people having to send them in for "recalibration" frequently and still not getting satisfactory results. Jeff Ascough sends all of his camera and lenses in to Canon once a year to get this done. How many Nikon shooters have ever had to do this with any camera or any lens? There is a reason why Canon provides a 1-year warranty and Nikon is able to provide a 5-year warranty its lenses.
