I have just placed my order for a D800 and is due on the 30th April, I'd like to know if anyone has tried/tested the AF-S 28-70/2.8 with the D800?
Will it cut the mustard, IQ etc... I prefer the balance of the 28-70 over the AF-S 24-70/2.8 or should I just get a 24-120/4 VR
I use mostly primes & won't be spending $$$ on the 24-70, looking for a lens around $1000 max.
Gear to be used:
14-24/2.8
28-70/2.8 or 24-120/4VR
70-200/2.8 VR II
35/1.4G
50/1.4G
85/1.4G
105/2.8 VR
AF-S300/2.8
I think that the whole megapixel out resolving the lenses myth has been bunked. I have used a D800 with all Sigma lenses and there is NO loss of IQ..... you will be fine
I have a D800 and did some images with my old 28-70 2.8 ED lens and the results are pretty amazing!
I have ordered the 24-120 f4 VR as a walk around lens and for travel, even though I know it will be a compromise.
I have shot with the beloved 14-28 2.8 but decided to get a 16-35 f4 VR instead. I don't mind the speed difference and wish to use filters on it.
I also used my old 80-200 2.8 ED lens and was very pleased too.
You will not regret getting the camera. It is a huge value for the $.

Where did you order a D800 that you can get one that fast? Or are you an NPS member?
