While waiting for my D800 to arrive I remembered that I bought Nikon FE2 years back from flea market. I just finished going through the content in the bag and I found the following lenses:
180mm P Nikkor auto
24mm f2.8 Nikkor-N auto
Nikkor 50mm f/2.0
Nikkor 28mm f/2.8
Nikkor 35-70mm 3:3-4.5
Kenko fish-Eye 180.
I don't know anything about these lenses. Did I struck gold or are they bunch of crap. I figure the 35-70mm is crap but what about the rest.
Seriously they are great lenses. You must make sure they are converted to "AI" in order for them to work on the D800 Then you can use them in A or M mode only. http://www.momentcorp.com/review/nikon_mf_lens_versions.html

I think you might be surprised how well some of those lens will perform.
The only AI lens I have is a 28mm f3.5 AI manual focus that is thirty years old and it is razor sharp corner to corner stopped down to f5.6 on my D800. I was really impressed with what this lens does on the D800. And I believe they sell for under $100.
It is going to take a lot of cameras in peoples hands and a lot of testing to find out which older lens will perform good on the D800.

If you just got these a "few " years ago, they may already be AI or AIS lenses & NOT need to be converted. If they were 40 years ago, then they probably need to be converted. Take a few pics of some of them & post them here. Someone will be able to help you. Need a pic of the base & the f-stop numerals. I don't know the fish-eye. The other Nikons are all good lenses - probably better made then some new ones being sold at the moment.
Wow that's very good because I emailed John at http://aiconversions.com/. He asked me the year of the lenses but I have no clue. The serial numbers might help to determine the year.
