1. Yes. Outer points are great.
2. From RAW processed in ACR/LR I'd say ISO4000 and ISO6400 are usable. 5d2 was 3/4 stop better than the 5dc and 5d3 is about 1/2 stop better than the 5d2.
3. Yes. Apparently the 1dx has a new system, but I've found my 5d2 system to be good.

The major issue that people have reported so far is with seeing which focus point you have selected in both low and bright light. I don't have one so I can't comment much about this.

The only way mk III is like mk ii is sensor upto ISO 1600. It is in a different league in handling , af included. Landscape shots may not gain but pretty much everything else does. I had mk i for 2 yrs, mk ii for 5 months and can say that mk III will highly likely used till it stops working.

I say the 5D3 is worth the upgrade over the 5D2 but not really for IQ. High ISO is better, noise pattern is better, cleans up better. Below 1600ISO is about the same but again shadows have less pattern noise but still can't be pushed like an EXMOR.
The AF is amazing, amazing, amazing, sad but true that Nikon guys have had just as good for many years. But at least Canon got it right this time.
General usability is also much improved, very 7D like and way better than 5D2.
I actually wonder what they could really improve upon with a 5D4. I would think the only thing would be some amazing EXMOR equalling DR sensor and of course upping the FPS once CPU power increase. Other than that, I can see myself shooting the 5D3 for a long time. I've kept the 5D2 as my 2nd body for short focal lengths and the 5D3 is now my longer lens body or what I take when I only want to carry one camera (like hiking).

Well after spending five very intense days shooting with a single mk3 instead of a pair of mk4's it's a very very good camera.
For mk2 owners don't expect a massive difference in IQ..small but improved.
However everything thing else is better.
The AF is excellent..it's better at night and poor light than the mk4..considerably..hi ISO is excellent at all the ISO's I use up to 6400 cleaning up really well.
If not cropping it is better than the 4 if cropping required the 4 to me is better. Also long work I'd use the 4 because of the crop factor meaning I generally wouldn't be length limited with the 400/2.8 my goto for night stuff.
For the price it's a great package and very dependable and most if all reliable in all light conditions..day/night etc.

Price difference is more like $2000 if you are willing to get a lightly used 5d2. Bunch of them selling for around $1500.

I've had the 5D II since it came to market and the 2 cameras are really about the same. I miss the features and buttons that had become so intuitive on the 5D II, but the auto focus does make a slight difference. I didn't have problems locking focus on the 5D II, but I shot in studio, not sports or other movement-based photography that other cameras are better suited for. If you're not using the camera for paying clients I'm having a hard time understanding the exasperation I'm hearing.
I'm still getting a feel for the new camera, but, for me, it's a winner and works fine for my needs as a studio photographer. I see a lot of people getting bent out of shape about focus issues on the 5D II, but I can tell you it's much better and more accurate than my much more expensive medium format digital Hassy.

I actually own both, and can tell you that the image quality between the two is not a reason to upgrade. The image quality is better than the 5DII, but just marginally. The most noticeable IQ advantage is how well the raw files hold together in the ultra-high iso ranges with regards to colour and tone.
IQ aside, it's a HUGE upgrade from the 5DII. In fact, I would say that the image quality is the only thing that isn't really super-upgraded in the 5DIII. It certainly isn't worse though...
