With my Mk2 I would NEVER use AI servo shooting agility, always prefocus and try to catch the right moment. Enter the Mk3 AI servo works like charm... note to self: remember to switch IS to mode 2 when panning

Great images , everyone! The images definitely indicate that the camera is a great performer.
Here are 4 images from shooting at Brazos Bend State Park, TX using that camera (thanks for showing me around, Leon). Although I took my 7D with me but I ended up shooting exclusively with the new 5D Mark III. My walk-around lens is a 400mm and mostly combined with a 1.4X TC Mark III on a monopod. I did catch a few BIF shots but not as many as I would like it to be. A monopod is too restricting and not the way to go for that and handheld, it is too unwieldy for my taste. AF-wise, the camera prooved to be up to the task of wildlife shooting (albeit not too many BIF shown here ) and I love the image quality it generates. ...Show more →
Yes, I already have, mine came yesterday, I am very pleased and impressed with it so far. Everything about it exceeds my expectations. No negatives whatsover.
Soooo disappointed - ONLY one red brick wall image in the bunch!! I thought that was a prerequisite for testing any new camera body, so much so that I thought it was step #1 in every user manual? Oh, wait - I forgot - no one reads the manual! Never mind.....
All of the images were shot in raw. I ran them through the beta DNG converter and imported the dng's to lightroom. Lightroom applies a bit of light sharpening by default, I did not change that. The top photo is slightly out of focus because I focused on her hand not the face like I should have. The ring shot came out of the camera looking fantastic no other processing other than crop and white balance. The ring shot was taken with the 24-105 f/4 and a 12mm extension tube. The outdoor rain shot received some photoshop work after basic lightroom adjustments. I used a Topaz filter and cloned out some distracting items in the background.
My gallery generator over sharpened these a bit but you get the idea. Most are at around ISO4000 some 6400, all shot raw and processed thru LR4 after converting to DNG. Very happy with the body so far, so I rented it again for this weekend's race.
