Guari, Thank you! It was at 1/25 ƒ/2.5 ISO 640 85mm, I tried to move fast, but in the end, this was my best result! I will try again tomorrow, but for now I need sleep, "we" my son that is, has a soccer match at 7:30 AM here in California! I know my son, and his team will win, he is an excellent team captain! He takes after his mum!
Raise the iso. You have two problems, missed focus and motion blur.
By raising the iso you will prevent the motion blur, leaving you to improve the focus.
Apart from the cat photo I am feeling underwhelmed by the images posted here. To my eyes the images posted in the OM-D/Pen thread on the Alt forum have a lot more impact and have been processed much better than the images here.
Very odd as I expected the D800 images to 'pop'
I'm not an Olympus fanboy, don't own one, but I do own a D700 and am looking to upgrade to the D800, so its disappointing not to see many images here that scream 'wow!'
I honestly don't see how images posted here and their processing are affecting your decision of upgrading from D700 to D800? I saw some images from the RX100 thread that are more "poppy" and better processed than in the D800E thread, but how's that relevant?
I know some photographers that produce images with a D300 far better than I do with a D800, but how's that the fault of the camera?!

crop it and it will be a much stronger image.
You see the i in rodriguez in your watermark, left hand side? Crop it there and it will improve
Guari, thanks again! yeah, i think i need to lower the opacity in my fugly watermark as well! i do need to learn how to spend time on the crop factor, but i think on this one, i wanted to have the sense of the soccer field in it, plus my son at the far right area!
So about a week ago my D7000 died after 6 years of service (being dropped out of a moving van and dunked in the ocean, so it did me good). Wanting a significant upgrade I bought a refurb D800 which I took outside work and shot this...holy god am I satisfied with this camera. Just the way it renders makes me happy
This thread has fallen off of the front page again. I'll resurrect it with a couple from my recent trip to Mendocino. They have a lovely garden area dedicated to dahlias.
