What film simulation are you using, if any? I decided to try and do just Fuji for a while, so now I have to really get down to it and play with film simulations. I find many of them are too colorful and contrasty. I like this look you got going on.

I'm not sure what he used, if any, but give Classic Chrome a try.

ProNeg Std is the least contrasty one with less saturated colors and with most detail in the shadows.
. . .
If using OOC JPEGs, doing shadows -1 can do wonders (for X-Trans2, X-Trans3 has a finer scale and could maybe use more negative shadows). Also can always dial back on the Color setting.

These are all jpegs Provia aka standard. I don't even bother with Raw on these, because with 8fps I take too many shots, and shooting Raw slows down the workflow. I think it works for this type of shots even though it maybe too colorful for some. However, it is circus, so things are colorful to begin with
Leighton's shots are of a beautiful family relationship and are a testament to Leighton
Subjects relaxed and photographer on top of his game. If you have ever been asked to take childrens shots and instead of the kids being allowed to relax and be them selves, mum is there with wardrobe, hairbrush and tissues.........
Siouxon Creek in the WA Cascades. 9.8 mile out and back hike with 6 named waterfalls. It is running heavy this spring so the waterfalls are a bit overwhelmed. Will have to go back in the fall and get it with some fall colors and lower volume.

Judging by these photos, you're getting along rather well with the 27mm. I think it's underrated and you don't often see images taken with it. Thanks for sharing these.
Wonder how it holds up to the 23mm f2, besides being a slight difference in FL.
