I had to get an oil change today.
Beside the Toyota dealer was a small pond.
Always with me the XT30 and the 70-300 with 1.4TC.
Perfect? Hardly, but a treat nabbing an Eastern Kingbird instead of sitting in the waiting room
for an hour.
Including the EXIF just because EKB by Stopitdown Stopitdown, on Flickr Kingbird data by Stopitdown Stopitdown, on Flickr
I had a super morning at the Marine Nature Study Area in Oceanside, NY yesterday. The rain kept the crowds away and the astronomical hi tide was at a perfect level leaving a little land and lots of ponds for the wading birds to fish. The lovely soft light was super for portraits. Two environmental portraits in this set and three close up images.

Well done Morris! The prettiest of all the swallows (IMHO).
Please tell me what is the claw looking black thing on the chest? I've noticed this in other Tree Swallows.
p.s. the rain drops really add to the capture.

Thank you Robert,
I have no idea what is the claw looking black thing on the chest

Update: Just learned what this is:
#3 looks like it might have a "brood patch" which is an area of bare skin which helps incubate eggs in the nest.
In the migration range (I looked it up), because I was surprised to see this little gem on our dam at 4000 feet in the Appalachians.
Spotted Sandpiper.
Sorry about the backlighting/I had one shot to nab him(or her).
I picked up Fuji's new 70-300mm as a light weight lens to use when I'm hiking and took it with me to Kissena Park for a walk around the lake to see how it works. I put it on my X-T3 without battery back and had the 1.4x and 2x TCs in my jacket pockets. I didn't even bother with a camera strap holding the feather weight setup by the lens barrel or camera's grip. This was a fun way to stole around and take photos. EXIF in all photos if you are curious
