p.1 #1 · Sluggish aperture on Pen F lens: return or repair?
I won a Pen F 40mm for ~$250 on eBay, and the glass and focussing are both near mint, but there is a lot of sticky oil on the blades. I took some shots from f/1.4 - f/16, and kept the exposure constant (1 f/stop down, 1 shutter stop up). By f/8, it starts over exposing, confirming that it won't stop down fully due to the oil. Also, I need to go back to f/4 to get the stopped down blades to budge from the (semi)closed position.
YYeCamera quoted $50 (plus $16 in round trip shipping) for a CLA.
I also have a G45, and was looking at the 40/1.4 for a low-light option with a real focus ring. Now the price of the 40/1.4 will be $325 (granted, it will be freshly serviced), which will pretty much be what I'll net from the sale from the G45.
So:
Do people think that after the cleaning, the blades should stop down to where they should go?
Would people here trade in their G45 for a F40?
