Oh, we have the sunlight, just not the subjects, Wowzers on the clarity and variety here Conrad. BTW, I shoot the 500 neked too, when eagles are fishing real close , out of a blind for puffin headshots or out the back sliders for full frame feeder birds, otherwise my 1.4x is attached.

NO WAY dude I can't afford the 8 I'm sorry to hear about your weather problems, come up with Thang next week and shoot some kites with me!
I agree with Tim. There is a point at which the magnification of longer focal length becomes less than the detail rendered with shorter shooting distance. This is why, for example, I like flora better at 80-135mm than at 300 or more. The shots are more challenging because the framing becomes much more difficult - but you sure nailed all the angles here.
Thank you very much David! Trouble is, these photos here are rare for me. I'm usually 50 yards away from my subjects (like most folks)

Thanks Herb! Oh man I'd kill for a shot of your puffins or eagles man!

I kinda look at all shots as more of an overall impression, details can make a shot but they can't always 'make a shot a better shot' if that makes sense. I respect details when they flourish as a benefit but I'll take ambiance as high mark too I give a different eye to different people for different reasons as an understanding of their goals and likes
I hope you did not misconstrue the intent of my comments buddy

Beautiful Conrad. At least you have some library shots to look back on. Since I acquired my 500 it has been very foggy. Today is the first day we have had a bit of sun for two weeks. And guess what, it is Mothers Day here in the UK so I can hardly clear off for the day

Can't afford! sure you candude, cut the foot messages down to twice a week from 8, that alone will get you the 800 in a year. Plus you just got a $20K increase in pay, if your smoking crack ,that will also dent the 800mm fund heavily!
