There surely are lots of interesting things apart from Old Faithful. In this image, I don't like the high contrast with the mostly black background. I second Douglas' question about the time of day. The scene would probably look better in softer light.
Taken in early October, so even though it was roughly mid-day, the sun was a bit low in the sky.
It was a cloudy-bright day. I was impressed by all the steam coming from hot pools and searched for perspectives that put the dark forest behind the steam, thereby emphasizing the contrast. Then I exposed for the highlights and let everything else go dark. After scanning the slide, I processed with the same purpose in mind.
Not everyone's cup of tea, Carlo- but it is exactly the way I wanted THIS cup of tea .
