p.1 #1 · Canon OEM vs Lenmar?

I couldn't find this question specifically on this forum or in the General Gear section so...can anyone attest to the performance of the Lenmar DLCE4 vs the Canon LP-E4? Further, is it worth buying either of these 'used' (not used up!) or should I just pay the freight and buy new to avoid disappointment? I'm looking for a good back-up. Thanks...

p.1 #2 · Canon OEM vs Lenmar?

Hello,

I've got a great experience with Lenmar batteries for my 1Ds II. Surprisingly, the batteries last like forever (I've done 2 photoshoot sessions and the battery indicator still stays strong, full bar). Only one concern (you might read some reviews about it too) is about the fit. These Lenmars don't have the "perfect" fit to my 1Ds II comparing to the OEMs, but it doesn't bother me actually.

You can get these from Amazon Prime for good price with 2 days shipping.

Best,
MC

I use Lenmar in place of Canon for various cameras. I find them as good or better than the OEM. I wouldn't buy used batteries, though.

I have a 1Ds and use Lenmars. I actually sold my Canon OEMs and bought several Lenmars, and they work excellent!
I have NO idea why Canon STILL charges $100+ for old NP-E3 batteries when the newer 1Ds3 batteries are better and cheaper and newer..??

I will join the chorus for Lenmar.
I have three of them, all hold charge quite well.
I will echo the "fit" issue. Just have to be a bit slower on the R/R.

On the other hand, two (but only two) poor reviews of their LP-E6 replacement, including one from last month for two batteries bought at a major store (Hunt's Photo).

Just this weekend I spent $70 at Hunt's for a Canon LP-E6 to replace one I lost. The lost one and the original that came with my camera were still going strong after 2+ years of hard use (my 7D has about 70K clicks). That performance convinced me to go with the original.

(Edit: Sorry, I misread the OP's post - I thought he was asking about the LP-E6.)

I use the Lenmar's in my 1DII, as I also did in my 1DsII, and they were great!!! As to the "fit", swap the Canon caps to the Lenmar cells and you'll have the perfect fit in your camera again!!!

THe lenmars have negative reviews on amazon for lp-e4's, a lot of people were saying the quality slipped since the good lp-e3's but who knows

I don't chance off brand batteries. I've only had bad experiences. Even if they hold a charge they're never accurate as to how much battery life is left. I hate to be kept guessing.
