I have recently discovered in CS5 the camera profile setting is defaulted to Adobe Standard which is pretty pathetic. How does one change this default to Camera Standard? I know I can change it but would like the starting point to be set to something that isn't quite as washed out.
In ACR you can save any setting -- or group of settings -- as a preset, and either save the setting(s) as the default (which will load it when ACR launches) or manually load the preset in the Preset panel.
When Abobe adds a camera it also creates style settings which simulate those in the camera you can pull down from the menu then tweek with the sliders. A Macbeth chart and gray card is a useful reference in test shots when fiddling there. The controls on that screen will shift colors, but not change the neutrals. So you can warm up a skin tone without changing the white sweater. This shows different styles applied to a shot of the MacBeth chart..
