A little pink hair dye and it would be perfect! Is this a youngster? Very nice Peter.

She must have been very near with a 200mm lens Peter.
Great pic with lovely patterns in the head and tail feathers.
Martin

Thank you, Martin, that shot was pure luck. Normally, even 400mm is not long enough on them.

Great shot Peter. I am trying to imagine how many hours would it take in a salon to get this perfect 'hood' if at all possible

Well done Peter, and with a 200 no less, I can't even get that close to them with a 400

Randy

Thank you, Randy, normally I'd use at least 500mm on them, but here I got lucky.

Gorgeous shot Peter! The angle shows the tail feathers well. Lower and you start to lose them.

Thanx Ken....that is so true, that tail in diving ducks is almost used like a caudal fin in dolphins when making a dive.

Great shot of her. I love seeing the tail spread over the water. This one seems so graceful on the water.
Nancy

Thank you, Nancy...their tail seems to function as some sorta stabilizer too when they swim.
