p.1 #1 · DSLR enclosure(not underwater)??

So... My wife and I were in NYC on Weds. at a taping of the Rachael Ray show. There was a guy there shooting stills of Rachael and her guests. He was shooting w/ Nikon gear(I dont think that really matters for my question, but just thought I would throw some extra detail in there! haha). Anyway, he had one body that he had what looked like maybe a 70-200 on it, and then he had another body with I dont know what kind of a lens on it, but the dslr body was inside of an enclosure of some sort. The enclosure was quite substantial, maybe like 10x10x4 or something like that. Had a window in the back for the viewfinder and a shutter release on the front. Sometimes he would shoot w/ the back of it closed, and sometimes he would open the cover on the back and shoot w/ the cover open.

Just wondering if you had any idea what the enclosure might be for or whatever. Maybe just noise suppresion(so you cant hear the shutter on video)? If that is the case then why not worry about it on the other body though. But that is about the only idea I could come up with...

Tried googling quite a bit but havent found anything that looks remotely close to what this guy had.

It's probably a 'blimp'. By your description, it would likely be a Jaobson, http://www.soundblimp.com/

Rats! scooped again!
