I took this image as an experiment in working with a white background, natural light and a reflector. My goal was to have a clean image with pleasing tones and shadows. I've been messing with this image and I can't decide if there is something better I should do.
Posting it larger would help - 800 pixels on the long side or even more. This allows a better look at the lighting, shadowing on the face and catchlights etc.
One thing this pic needs is more room. One arm and some fingers are lost in the crop. The result is a crowded feeling.
The lighting on the tall girl's face is brighter than the other two. Her eyes pop nicer than the other two as well because of that. Guessing you either needed bigger/more reflectors, or a more cooperative assistant
Thanks, All. I'll see if I can tone down the exposure on the one face. I was hoping that wasn't too distracting. I guess the upside is that bad photography leads to learning better processing skills.
I think it's more of an issue of composition (something I need lots of help with). I've read that when doing portraits trying to emulate triangles with people is important.
I think it would be better if the tall girl was behind the other two creating a nice triangle. Also maybe having them sit on the floor so the height differences don't play such a major role. Another option the tall girl in front sitting on the floor and the other two girls kneeling behind touching the tall girls shoulders?
