In the south-east section of Oregon, south of Malheur Wildlife Refuge. Even now, Steen's Mountain is a remote and seldom-visited section of the state. Bouncing along a dirt road some years ago, I saw only a couple of cars- and the occasional deer or pronghorn (they ain't no antelope!)
I tried to get out there this past late spring Charlie. The road was closed due to high water from the late season bountiful snow. Plan on trying again this year. It sure is remote out there. I found myself really drawn to the scenery and remoteness. I did see Pronghorn when I was there. Next time I would like to find the wild horses.

I particularly appreciate the comments about composition, I was a fair distance away and was using a cheap old Russian-made (Spiratone) 5.6 400mm lens on my manual 35 camera, and bulls-eyed the deer to help get focus better. After scanning and processing it the other day, I decided that some cropping was in order. Glad it worked okay.

Nice shot, Charlie. Long ago, when I was at the U of O (go Ducks), my friends and I back packed through there. A beautiful place, especially at the big landscape scale. I hope you post some more from there.
