p.1 #1 · Q for optically challenged NEX 7 Users

I am hoping someone who uses a NEX 7 & wears glasses can comment. Do you have any trouble with side glare when using the NEX 7 built in VF when the lighting is strong and bright? I am having trouble with the add on VF of the 5N in super bright daylight conditions. It just doesn't block enough of the light & I get an obnoxious amount of glare. Curious if the 7 is any better.

Sidebar question - I wonder if the 7 eyecup fits the 5N EVF? That might be an option...

With the 5N and EVF in bright sunlight, have you tried holding the camera in one hand and cupping your other hand over the EVF to block out the light? It's worked for me.

Yeah, but then how do you turn the focus ring?

It's kind of hard to explain, but I hold the camera in my left hand on my palm so I can still adjust focus with my left index finger while I use my right hand to shield the sun. Once I've focused, I readjust my right hand to steady the camera then shoot.

I know if sounds kind of kludgy, but it's worked for me. I'm not saying it's elegant, but it's possible to do and you might want to play around with it (not saying you haven't tried this already, but I didn't try using one hand to shield the sun until I'd had my 5N for over a month).

I can see how that could work with some lenses. Not sure about CV's or G on Kipon adapter.

How about just buying any eye cup you like and then glueing it onto the 5n's EVF?

Or glueing it onto a little home-made boot that fits over the 5n's EVF... etc.

I was looking at my Canon eye cup and thinking about that...

I suppose wearing a pirate's eyepatch with a little peephole in it would be entirely too much.
