Although, the D700 may still be the better option for low light. High MP are great if you're heavily cropping or doing very large prints but otherwise there are more negatives than positives.

Ummm, I have a stupid question. How is it possible that for the picture of the yellow flowers and headland, that the yellow flowers are in focus but the headland isn't? It's at f/8 at 14 mm.... What gives?

Okay, but why wouldn't everything to infinity also be in focus at f/8 and 14 mm? DOF calculator and prior experience says it should be. Maybe incorrect EXIF?
