Good idea, Charlie.

I saw the Prototype works from Lewis Baltz in Chicago at the AIC last year and really enjoyed it. I should buy the book. Here are some samples link

I also saw a William Eggleston exhibit in person for the first time at LACMA last year, and those Kodachrome pics look fantastic.

link

**edit. as pointed out below, Chicago spelling is fixed. duh.

The owner of that collection needs some serious therapy.

Now I know the answer to one of the burning questions of all time: how many Argus bricks are just enough?

The answer, of course, is 14, with three cases to share among them.

No, I only have a few camera bodies. 4 or 5. I have a buttload of lenses tho I think not as many as he has bodies sitting there. I've been through a bit over 400 lenses. I've sold off about 120 or 150 and I currently have something close to 300. I'm actually surprised how little space 300 lenses take up. It sounds big but it's only one display cabinet full.

About 1/4 of them are zooms the vast majority of which are really good IMHO.
About 1/4 of them are primes over 60mm about half of which I would consider good.
And about half of them are primes under 60mm less than half I consider to be really good.
There's some odds and ends too. Like some power zooming video lenses for half-inch, some cinema lenses, a few enlarger lenses, and so on.

PS: The owner of that collection doesn't need therapy! He needs a store front!

Yup, Talent... The images I saw there are a cut above most sites I see. Including the ones listed in this thread so far.

BTW, I think it should be spelt: Sheekago.

Here's an interesting set that I think the alt group might appreciate. The compositions on these are brilliant IMO.

Due to recent postings I think this is a more excellent thread idea than perhaps I originally thought!!! With all the conformists lately claiming that their plastic junker, mediocre IQ, characterless, mirrorless kit lenses are "good enough" I was beginning to lose hope for this place! Faith restored! Thank you!

I'm not very good but it's still my own shots which are the most inspiring to me. I guess it's the thrill of a good lens delivering images which look better than I (or the camera I'm using) think I am (it is). It's like, I add lens X to camera body Y and this happens... awesome! Looks so cool! Better and pleasingly different than any of the native lenses could ever produce. Even though I know I'm just some n00b looking through the EVF and pressing the button. It's those fine results (in spite of myself) that inspire me to keep playing with alt gear. Other people's shots (alt and kit) inspire me to try and become a better photographer but not really much to do with alts in specific.
