I have 56 files missing or otherwise deleted that I need to recover. I'm pretty sure they were deleted from LR3 as well as the recycle bin. I know the file numbers, but don't know if they're recoverable. Also, one of the files was uploaded to Facebook, but of course they change the file name so I have no idea which one it is. The file I need to recover is very important and needs to be recovered ASAP. Please help!
I tried Pandory Recovery, but the .CR2 files I recovered won't open in PSE or LR3.
The majority of the files recovered were also partially or completely overwritten...does this mean they can't be recovered?
I have a program from SanDisk called Rescue Pro that is supposed to work on all types of drives, I believe.
Maybe you can google that and see if it's a possibility for you. Good Luck.

One thing I'm pretty certain about and that is that overwritten files can't be recovered. It's one of the ways security software cleans a disk.
Thanks Chief. A fellow Airman passed away yesterday in a motorcycle accident and I'm trying to recover some photos of him I took at work to use for his memorial.
Regarding overwritten files not being recovered, that's what I thought, but was hoping for the best. At least I have the low-res version I downloaded from Facebook...glad I uploaded in hi-res at the time.

Downloaded and installed Rescue Pro and Rescue Pro Deluxe, but neither will open. I'm getting an error saying it requires elevation.

Use Zero Assumption Recovery. I have had more successes with this than anything else.
It even recovered most of a 1TB Raid 0 partition when I didnt even know the disk order anymore. Took it over a day, but it worked!
I downloaded the demo version of this yesterday afternoon after reading your post. It has been running for over 15 hours. Is this normal? At what point will it stop and show me what files have been recovered?

Any suggestions?
Sorry to say Kevin, but it's true that if you had overwritten the files or photos, then there is minimum chances to recover it. However, if you believe that your files were not overwritten and still exist somewhere in your LR3 or hard disk, you may opt for the best photo recovery software which recovers the deleted or lost photos.
You can see the preview of recoverable files. Some of the software are free to do this, but for full recovery you can purchase the complete software anytime.
Hope for the best..

Thanks Oliver, but I think you're right. The files were overwritten and cannot be restored. I tried several different programs and all came up short.
Thanks as well to everyone else for their help and suggestions.
I used this revered files form a hd that windows did not recognize...
Also, if if is a hard drive, you can hook it to a linux box.. as a slave and look at the files there.
