p.1 #1 · C&C for C|C please

Edit:****seems I have confused people with the borders. These are not album spread btw. I just used blogstomp and it did the bordering for me, sorry****

I didn't think it was legal to have this much fun at a wedding and it was really good to see two people step away from the standard wedding industry machine and own their own day from start to finish.

All choices of location shot are theirs, nearly didn't happen due to rain but I was up for a challenge. So much to show, don't really know where to start so heres a few. Theres a bunch more inside shops and in front of graffiti. There is much more I want to show but last time I posted loads of images I got told off for it. I haven't done any of the temporary tattoo guys antics.

Thanks to all who have helped me out with the whole skin tones/colour posts from me recently. If they look soft blame flickr. I don't know how else to get images up here.

7 And a ukulele band - awesome bunch of characters did everything from Blondie through to Donna Summer.

8 Then they went on a bus with the guests (guests not included here)

10 Stopped at Victoria St in Richmond. Really pissing down with rain. I got soaked. Amazed the gear held up. The one in the shop is one of brides fave's.

Very, very nice! You made music out of a tough situation with the weather.

Love the colors in 10, the one the bride likes so much.

Great job!

Ron

Thanks Ron,
The reception venue was the biggest liability as it was an absolute cavern.

It's a beautiful set!!! Perfect! I'm jealous. Where were the locations? Is that a bit of China Town in there?

@louloulou Dropped off at one end of Victoria St, Richmond. Walked for about 100 metres or so over 45 minutes, stopping every so often. All Vic Street. Reception was Mountain Goat Brewery in Richmond. Ceremony was in their home.

Thanks to all who have taken the time.

Does anyone else have any feedback for me?

Sorry for the shameless bump but the opinion of this group is actually really important to me.

Great set! The mood of the day was captured perfectly, they come across really happy and in love. Seems like it was an awesome wedding, great job capturing it. Love the discreet shots, behind object shots. The processing on 11-13 might be a bit much, but that's personal preference. Angles and compositions are great.

Like, like a lot, incredibly crisp and clean!

As you did specifically ask for crit, I have 2 minors:

The processing of the ones in the bus is inconsistant with the rest of the set, one of them looks desaturated, 2 of them look like instagram.

The 2 small pics to the right of the 'ringmaster' - I don't like the hotspot on his face, I'd drop exposure down a stop (or more) and use fill light to bring the rest back up.

Not keen on the black borders.

Pix are indeed your best that I have seen.

These kind of weddings do tend to bring out the best in us.

As long as you clear the black borders with the client (I'd mention white is an option), the black could work here. Not my pick, but it doesn't turn me off.

Chris:

Thank you thank you for getting stuck into them.
consistency: the final spread to the client is more consistent with just a few tweaks here and there and some out-of-ordinary shots thrown in. A majority of bus was normal + a few mono's. She handed me a bunch of shots before the wedding and said 'I like these, se what you can do' and I got that she liked some of this kind of toning. I used it in the bus because it gave it a slightly 60's summer feel. What Im getting at is that the final spread isnt so random. But yeah point well made and thanks.

2 pics on the right yeah, they dont look so great now. The hotspot is there on the originals so yeah. If Im honest with myself I think I probably need to work on how I light people on dance floors. I think the resize has made it more pronounced.

The reception was all OC flash. I nearly put a couple of lights in the corners but felt that it would have killed the mood a bit and reduced my flexibility - the event moved at a frenetic rate, there was always something going on somewhere. Dancing + Paella being cooked + Tattoo parlour all at same time. Bananas.

BK & Jnielsou: Re borders. Do you mean the pano shots? tried with white and was really torn. Settled with black but really more out of habit so, sure, next time I do it I will be more open minded to the border issue.

I think there is a reason why you will never see a photograph in a museum without a white mount...
