p.1 #1 · Los árboles del lago tahoe con nieve en otoņo

or The Winter of Our Discontent.

Snowfall has been low across much of the country. While many appreciate this lack of snow, many of us are unable to rejoice. Beyond worldly pleasures involving backcountry skiing and landscape photography, impacts will be felt in summer.

For me, it has been as well-timed as something like this can be. I have a new son. So, while I become impatient for snowfall for a myriad of reasons, he and I, the wife, and the dogs find ways to occupy our time.

Snow has returned, but has become a frozen conglomerate of concrete and chunder. We read wx forecast blogs and models looking for a whisper of a winter storm on the horizon.

These photos were taken in Autumn (el Otoņo). They are not magnificent, but they are the only photos I have shot with snow this season.

Thanks for looking.

The "lack" of winter will have a serious impact throughout the lower 48 as elsewhere, especially those that depend on snow pack through the summer months....
The second image really stands out, love that sunstar and the shadows...Looks like some minor lens flare in the lower right corner. Nice conversions....

Nice, we had snow in October and nothing since. Congratulations for the son, I have a new daughter and also no time to shoot.

Thanks for commenting. True on the lens flare. I haven't had a chance to give it a proper fix, everything so far looks like crap. There's also some ugly (see: non-pristine) in the shadow on the bottom left. But I do like the sun-burst and the almost matched tree-line and cloud.

I liked your ridge-line, wind-blown sunset picture. Really no time to shoot. Not that this winter's been worth a damn for it. Plenty of sunrises in the future...
