+1. I can shoot all of the mountain ranges and buildings from my backyard that I want... but I'm in Los Angeles, so you can imagine how smoggy atmosphere will play a part! I tried sending Derek some raws of my ZM 50/1.5 at distance stopped down, but, between the haze and my adapter possibly not reaching infinity, I basically wasted his time.
even if i couldn't see actual infinity resolution it certainly wasn't a waste of my time. i could still see how and where sharpness fell off from central to corner portions. thanks again.
it's not like i can avoid haze here when i shoot infinity, so those were "real world" shots.

Yeah, I'm sure you've already seen this, but the Zm 50/1.5 at f4. F5.6 should be a little better, but the ZM 50/2 or G 45/2 are certainly better in this regard: http://www.kenrockwell.com/zeiss/zm/50mm-f15/mtf-f4.gif
those are some crazy bumps right after the 15mm mark, i'm guessing that's astigmatism (not that it matters much on aps-c). not sure exactly how lens astigmatism interacts with AA filter induced astigmatism? maybe somebody could design a lens where the AA filter actually corrects the lenses astigmatism.

Yeah, pretty crazy after 15mm. I don't have a feeling that the 5N's AA filter causes much extra astigmatism, because that is pretty steep decline from 5mm out to the 15mm edges, but who knows? My CV 50/1.5 appears to be less sharp than the ZM at the aps-c corners, FWIW. The ZM 50/1.5 is primarily a portrait or vibe lens for me, and I'd go with a Planar for more even coverage.
p.s. oddly enough, I was looking at the lens design for the CV 50/1.5 the other day, and it is remarkably similar to the ZM 50/1.5, which I hadn't realized. Of course, the CV has an ASPH element.
