I traveled across central Wyoming yesterday between storms. This part of the state is much overlooked as folks are headed to the bigger mountains. But, its rugged scenic beauty is spectacular. The Oregon Trail runs through much of this area and is a testament to the rugged determination of the early pioneers and settlers. Thanks for looking.

The first is my favorite by far however.
I have a love/hate relationship with central Wyoming. I love the stark beauty out in these parts. But I hate the endless wind. It almost feels industrial at times. Maybe because I'm on my motorcycle out there.

You're right, I've neglected that part of WY and have already made plans to correct that this summer. Basing around Landers, I plan to branch out in all directions. I'm already doing my research, but would appreciate any tips. Although I'll never see it in winter, I do like your shots.
Thanks everybody! The Oregon Trail shot was interesting because it was 5F and the wind was blowing about 30mph. It looks a little soft cause I couldn't hold the camera still--but it turned out good.
Stan--let me know when you get into the trip planning mode and I will help you with some great tips for the area east of Lander through Jeffrey City, Beaver Rim, Sweetwater, Muddy Gap and Independence Rock. You will love it. Very interesting and wonderful geology.
Dave, you managed to capture the feel of WY (central??) during winter! The first & seconds images are typical scenic Wyoming offers and you have managed to capture these. Nice!
1 is great but I find 2 even more intriguing. The glow from behind the mountain is excellent. I might darken the image just a tad to emphasise the glow even more.
