My daughter is learning to take photos - she has a bit of an eye, IMHO - some nice cat photos attached - C&C welcome. All photos taken with a T2i and a 17-85
For a silhouette look, find a background that is lighter than the subject as a first step. Maybe a light coloured wall, or a window.
#1 doesn't work because of a busy background - some dark, some light and lots of objects.
#2 The cat is backlight, so there is too much light to get the silhouette.
#4 Again in #4, a busy background. The sun looks good on the edges of the cat, but the furniture corner is big distraction. The light on the rug also ruins the silhouette.
