Can any of these live view programs step the focusing forward or backwards in manual focus mode? I'm wondering about using something to perform stepped focus stacking. I know you can autofocus remotely but that doesn't help me

EOS Utility and DSLR Capture Pro provide full control of the camera, focus, aperture, shutter speed, and shutter release.

I don't know if it's precise enough for focus stacking, you'd have to experiment.

I was hoping that Eye-Fi cards would be able to transmit wirelessly to the Fire, but not yet. That would be the way to go -- WiFi to a tablet, on location. It seems WiFi and GPS should be standard features in all decent DSLRs at this point.
