Boo hoo.
their business is news and traditionally it used to be them to share the information of new gear. They complain that they have to go to a press conference after the worldwide announcement of the new camera, which is kind of useless to them. Understandable, no!
What would you say if Nikon would offer the body first on their own internet shop before making them available in stores? or maybe it does happen already
I am really looking forward to this body, maybe not as a buyer. Pure curiosity to see how the market will receive these new camera compared to D4 and also wonder about the non AA version

So Nikon should change their timing of announcements to suit a french magazine.
dpreview did the same thing a little while ago. whinged and cried about not getting pre-announcement cameras.
In the industry, you are always getting information that is embargo'd until a certain date/time. Our buyer get even better information under NDA's, so they can plan what to buy and what stock to get rid of.
Nikon likely didn't tell them because these guys constantly break the embargo. And along with it, the trust.

Nikon Rumors is saying that it will produce clean images to ISO 1600. I get the MP increase doesn't help, but this is about a stop worse than a D700, right?
Would that characterization be corrected for image size?

I think it's too early to tell what's going on just based upon that one person's opinion. People have different standards as to what's "clean" or not.

If the d7000 sensor is scaled up to FF with zero improvements, it should be ~the equal of the d700. Hopefully they make a few improvements.

As a D700 owner I'm tempted. Not so much by the high MP but just to try something new that isn't a D3/D3s etc. I'll probably rent it and see what it's like once it's out.

jlawrence - I'm disappointed, since I use Nikons for events, and would rather better iso, and low MP. Though to be honest, I might just get one exclusively for studio use if it's a good clean 36mp @ iso 100-400
So really, now the option is, keep the D700 cameras or sell them and buy two D4 cameras. Then pickup a D800 for studio use.

The only comparison to D7000 I hear is pixel size.
I expect the D800 High ISO performance to be better because it is FullFrame,
uses Expeed 3 processing and is latter technology.
Ask me again tomorrow.

yes! Tomorrow!
I did not expect but wished D4s high ISO at about 100k. Because it is Nikon and the new flagship and FF. It turned out to be D3s standard. What does not make me very hopfull.

How I love Google Translate! Apart from its tremendous usefulness it can also be viewed as an inspired generator of prose poetry - frequently witty prose poetry at that. I hope they never improve it.

1080 p is high def.
I don't see this as a D700 replacement because of the high pixel count must mean more noise. I can't imagine a Sony sensor beating the D700's noise.
The pricing will be interesting. I'd rather have it be $2500 and have 24 mp. $4000, as some have suggested, combined with the need for more hard drives, faster processor and bigger cards will not be easy to swallow.
