p.1 #1 · Pocket Wizard Fles compatability with new Nikon Products
I just got off the phone with PocketWizard support and was told that the Nikon SB-910 is not compatible with the TT5/ TT1, and a firmware update is in the works. I am using SB-910s and the only issue I'm encountering is with HSS/Hypersync. No date for the update is available.
I asked about compatibility with the new D4 with the Flex system, and was told that they are waiting like everyone else to even get the camera to test! So don't expect your PW Flex system to work with your new D4 right away!
p.1 #2 · Pocket Wizard Fles compatability with new Nikon Products
PocketWizard firmware changes can be painfully slow to come out, but at least they offer their "Beta Lab" program where you can do Beta testing on releases before official release. Often thoe Beta releases are very funcitonal, and just have a few bugs that can be worked around, but you get early access to the firmware.
For camera compatability, I know I waited quite a while for some of the Canon bodies to get on their list and in the firmware, but was able to use at least one of the bodies by just setting custom values rather than letting the Flex detect the camera model. I do not know exactly, but I think the Canon 1D4 took about a year between release and when it got in to the firmware, but I was able to do most of what I needed by using the old firmware.
Because PocketWizard needs to reverse engineer all the features and functions of each new flash and new camera model, and because the camera companies do not care about compatibility with PocketWizard, making a new camera or flash work can be anything from trivial to very very difficult.
