I'm heading to Alaska in August for a 4 day/3 night bear excursion. Since we are taking a little plane over to the tundra and doing some hiking, weight is something that needs to be considered.
My plan is to take 2 1D bodies and my 24-70, 70-200, 500 and 1.4x. So right off the bat, my gear is weighing around 15lbs. My current bag is a large Tenba Shootout backpack, which will hold it all and then some. However, the bag itself weighs 9.3lbs - according to Tenba.
I thinking of selling it and moving to a Gura Gear bag that will hold the same gear, but weighs only 4lbs. Not sure I'll notice the 5lb difference, but it is 5 less lbs. My holdup is that outside of my yearly trip somewhere for wildlife, I rarely use the bag - I just take my Pelican.
Anyone think it's worth the extra money to make that switch just to save 5lbs for a yearly trip?
that was exactly why I didn't buy the Tenba Shootout in the first place. Ended up w/ the Lowe Vertex 200 but the Gura certainly looks great although $$$$.
I think you'll notice the 5lb's, whether it's worth the $300+ is a different question.
