"Jesse, I know you're under a fair amount of heat right now, but you should consider offering an apology to the folks on the board. I'm not agreeing with everything that was said from either side, or that politics don't exist, but I think you recognize the value of this forum and if you want to be re-accepted as an upstanding member, I think that this would be a critical first step. Obviously, you're of your own mind but just wanted to share an unbiased opinion. Best, XxXx"

I think there is a phallacy in your logic.
I missed out on last night's entertainment (I think I'm going to defriend all of my FM FB friends... I can't believe NOT ONE OF THEM had the decency to send me a FB message to tell me about the fireworks)
But based on the one remaining thread (the title that rhymes one), on some comments here and thare and your own description above "no matter how appalling that is to some..." I'm going to venture to guess that at least last night your behavior may have been more than one standard deviation away from the average behavior of that 80% of silent observers.
Your statement only makes sense if we presume the 80% to be crazy mofos that want to jump in and start crazy threads...
... somehow I find that inconsistent with one belonging to a group of "silent observers"

A phallacy? Fallacy? Phall...erm. That has potential for another interpretation.
Most people who stick to their "personality guns" and ignore the methods of socially acceptable communication find more often that they work better alone, can't figure out why the world is this way or that way, find that they have more disputes with people, see more people as unpleasant, etc...but lacking any other experience, they don't seem to realize that they have more of these situations and will deny an overall experience like that.
Basically, the world doesn't revolve around such a person and part of them wonders WTF not. The outward facade states indifference about how anyone else sees them. Ask any such person and they will deny that they expect anything to revolve around them, but the person tends to run into conflict more often because everyone and everything else does not seem to perceive the same reality of sense as that person does.
Confrontational and self-important with the justification of not having any desire to bend to the rest of the world's desires. It is a hypocritical behavior pattern.
Easy to adopt, easy to remove if you're still young enough...
