Wasn't quite sure where to post this but since I've been putting my recent skiing photos in the sports forum I figured these would fit here too. Taken during avalanche scenario training for ski patrollers, mountain guides and others interested in honing their rescue skills.

1. A patroller trudges through the deep snow with a probe in one hand and a shovel in the other. (The snow wasn't too easy to move through for the photographer either.):

2. Probing for "victims":

3. Probe strike! Time to dig:

5. And the team managed to rescue ... a sign. This was a false positive strike, but fortunately the "victims" were just dummies wearing hockey helmets:

6. This little guy is an avalanche rescue dog in training. He found a couple of "victims" and was pretty proud of himself:

Really like number 3. The reflection of his arm in the goggles is cool....... Might have been better if he looked up a bit and got the shovel and so on in the shot.

Love the dog shot too!!!!!

good thing it's only training! the snowpack is terrible here in CO this year

Numbers 3 and 6 are great stock shots of the whole process. I'm guessing smiling isn't part of the job when it is for real.

These are all really nice. Great exposures, which I know can be huge challenge in the snow. Not sure these are "sport" pictures, but I enjoyed looking at them. I think the folks over in the "people" forum would like 'em too. I love the colors. Just fantastic framing too.
