10 photographs stacked in StarStaX, all exposed closely to 150" seconds. The waterfall was painted during each exposure for about 45 seconds to give it the glowing look!
Went out last night with my girlfriend and a good friend of mine to shoot this. I've had this in mind for quite some time but its about 40 minutes away so I never really go around to it. We'll I'm extremely happy with the outcome and I plan on doing a bunch more photographs like this in the near future.
Just sucks that I have to drive at least 20 Minutes away to get a photo where there isn't crazy amount of light pollution.
I guess I'll be driving a bit more to get some of these star trail photos! really pleased with the outcome.
Thanks for all the feedback. At first I thought the rock in the foreground was a bit over powering but I guess now that I really look at it the focal points are too strong to even really notice it
Zak, beautiful and extremely well executed shot the falls in the fg is really awesome. I saw your comment about the Fg rock and IMO it works especially because of its sharpness it grabs you and brings you into the shot. if you don't my sharing some thoughts, I am planning some star trail projects and was curious on your decision to go for 150 sec exposures x10 vs. a shorter exp and more of them . Did you need the extra time fro the light painting results ?Dean

I guess I went with 150 seconds because that was my test shot and it looked about right! I proceeded with my second shot with some light painting which helped out bring out the waterfall so much!
Now some of the shots the waterfall was too blown out so in StarStaX I compressed the sky with the full 10 exposures and the waterfall and down with 4 shots that were nicely exposed. I brought it into photoshop and blended the two layers to each other.
Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it!
