Wow Tim, that is pretty clean for ISO 5000. I know how well the Mark IV handles noise at high ISO's, but that first shot is crazy good. Nice dunk capture BTW. Did you run these through any noise reduction software in post?
Thanks Billy. It was my first dunk shot of the year. Most of the schools I shoot don't have anyone who can dunk in action. Just used the noise reduction in LR, which I still experiment with. I think the key is to find a balance between sharpening and noise reduction.
Very nice shots and look. I was shooting D3 last night using ambient. 5000 ISO, shutter speeds 1/320 to 1/500. Not anywhere near that clean. (Ultimate frisbee - indoor soccer venue isn't too well lit...)
Ben- no secrets...just good lights and a tweak in Lightroom 4 beta.
Richard- yes the 1d4 is an awesome tool and the new 70-200 2.8 is II makes a great combo. Now if I could make a tool to eliminate refs butts from blocking my view I would have it all.
