After a few experiments, I have found ISO 6400 to be too mushy/noisy, and 3200 to be ok, just. These were shot at 3200 with 100 f/2 or 50 f/1.4, primes, manual, wide open (except one set inadvertantly to 1.6). F/2.8 just isn't workable - either ss's will be too slow, ISO too high, or exposure too dark (though as I think about it, I could underexpose by a stop at 2.8 and brighten it in PP. Highlights may get blown out, but so what?...may try that next time).
On the drive-to-the-hoop shots, the angle is more dramatic if shot from lower down (IMO), but shooting slightly up inevitably brings the sodium lights into the frame. I'm now thinking that shooting from a flatter angle is the way to go - the lights really impair the shots. Thoughts?
