Unfortunately my time spent in Death Valley was short, about 2 hours photographing. But it was one of my favorite places on my road trip west. I hope to get back there sometime to explore it more. The heat of July was killer but it made avoiding foot prints easy (except my own). So I think July is the time to go :
I should have stayed overnight at least. I would have also liked to use my 4x5 or 8x10 there too. Next time I'll make sure to do that.
Zeph, thanks for the idea, I really like everyone's input. Helps to overcome stereotypes for this popular location. Charlie, your #3 is fantastic! Art's rainbow view is very nice, too!
Couple more from me, not sharp enough as it was extremely windy:
Thanks for posting camera and lens. I have been kicking around the idea of the Zeiss 21mm or the Canon 14mm. Now I'm really not sure. Man these are some awesome photos on this thread. Excellent work. I hope soon I can take some shots like these! I recently purchased a Canon 1ds Mark II. This camera is awesome(operator needs some work).
Since I have posted so many DEVA photos elsewhere on this forum already, I wasn't going to add any to this thread... but then I saw "MrJoe's" ghostly night image and thought that I might share some of my night stuff from DEVA and surroundings.
And an old one with some technical issues that will limit the print size - this was the night that I learned a lesson about exposure with digital cameras... ;-)
