Were these shot in Tanzania?

Thanks so much Roger...these were shot in Kenya in March of 2010....so even without the migration in town there was plenty to see and photograph.

All of these are great Eric. But #5 does it for me. Great job!

Thanks so much Khai....there is nothing that says Africa any better than a big male lion in its prime. Lucky to be able to get one with the wind in its hair.

Eric- Not enough good adjectives to describe these excellent images.
I'm particularly interested in the hippo shot. Normally they feed at night and cool off in the water during the heat of the day. Lucky you to get one feeding in daytime. And of course, talented of you to get such a good image of it staring at you with possible malice (I've heard that hippos are very grumpy and dangerous).

Amazing, great shots Eric. I gotta go with the cats in 3,5,7 and 8 for my picks. Keep digging thru those 2010 shots, looks like youre still finding some gems.

Great set Eric, thanks for sharing. I can't play favourites with the images, but your caption on #6 is perfect.

Thanks Rob...I find it almost as much fun trying to figure out what to say sometimes.

Too, too kind Charlie. You are correct about the hippos feeding habits. Typically they do spend the heat of the day in the rivers and water holes to protect their sensitive skin...you know they secrete a material that helps to protect them as well...and then the leave the water to forage for food...sometimes we get lucky and they have emerged early from the water or didn't get back quite early enough as we set out in the morning...and sometimes they just seem to wander a bit...maybe going from one pool to another...I believe this was pretty early in the morning before the heat of the day and we caught them on the way back to their pool. And yes they can be very grumpy...you do not want to get between them and the water...they are one of the most common cause of human fatalities in Africa.
