9mm length is absolutely crazy! I love how bold the featured lens seems to be, as far as design choices. They must really be taking advantage of the ability to use a very short register distance with the GXR.

PDAF lenses on a system with CDAF do not perform very well. We're probably looking at a couple of seconds in most cases to lock on. So, Pentax will need new CDAF lenses...and, if they need new CDAF lenses, they should have just used a new, shallower mount in the first place with an adapter for K lenses. It's a really odd choice.
That pancake looks cute, but we must remember the registry distance of the Pentax K mount : 45.45mm. This is 27.5 mm. more than the 18mm. of a NEX.
NEX + 16/2.8 pancake is almost 2 cmtr. thiner than that Pentax combo.

Looks ok, but you're stuck with m42 & K mount lenses, which makes it mostly useless to me,
You should be fine with every mount 45.5mm or longer. That includes Nikon (46.5mm), Olympus OM (46mm), Contax RTS (45.5mm), Contarex (46mm), Leica R (47mm), Ricoh (45.5mm), T2 (55mm), Yashica (45.5mm) and probably many others.

I'd rather use my 1DIII.
I must confess I don't understand how such a beast is related to this. I'd understand if you said a Rebel which is small and light but a 1D3?

Apples to Oranges. These lenses have vastly different FL so I must confess I fail to understand the comparison. Maybe the 50/1.8 OSS would be a (slightly) better comparison.
Thanks for these! I kinda like the looks of it. I think the grip extrusion should a little narrower and a little more extruded tho. But overall not too bad at all!
BTW, WTH is Marc Newson and why is his name written on someone else's camera?
The camera does look pretty cool, but... it is like a Pentax DSLR (which are already compact) minus viewfinder, minus phase detect AF, minus mirror, while retaining the DSLR thickness because of the lens mount used.
