Come on now, it is an $1100 camera. Surely they'll at least have one of those cell phone shakers in there to actually make it move like a mirror had slapped.
Ken
nah that wouldn't leave room for hauxon's click-open bubblegum holder

At the risk of repeating what others have written, it isn't. If you hold the camera ready to shoot, you will see both the Fn2 and E-whatever are written for you to read, not for others, like the writing on the front face of the camera, i.e. Olympus OM-D.
I'm sorry to be so thick. I'm usually understands fast when explained slow.....
Look, everything in this picture suggests that the camera is positioned as if someone is taking a picture of you. After all, the lens is pointing at you. Because of that you can properly read the "OM-D" and "OLYMPUS" and because of that the Fn and the writings on the wheel are backwards i.e. towards the shooter.
So far so good.
But now, if the "E" whatever is below the wheel - and on the other side of the lens - I should be able to read it as easily as I read the "OM-D" on the other side.
More news from 43rumors. Name will be E-M5, it will have the same sensor as GX1 and viewfinder is the same as VF2. For those hoping for a new generation Sony mega something sensor it might be a let down. Maybe one needs to dive into the GX1 reviews a little better but first thought is that the extra $600 for the Fuji X pro 1 might be worth it if one's looking at image quality first.

Pretty much the disappointment we've been preparing for...

I think there's no doubt the Sony/Samsung/Fuji will have better image quality, this is somewhat of a letdown but always known as a possibility unfortunately. Well, I had hoped for something brand new but it appears (from rumor) that the Oly will use a "tweaked" Panasonic sensor. Having shot with the GX1 I can definitely say this sensor is quite a bit better than the 12MP sensors Oly has been using, so while it may not be "better" than the latest Panasonic line, it will be better the anything Olympus has had to date.
If they really nailed other features of the camera then I am still going to be very interested in this one, it looks like I'm really going to like the design and external functions (hopefully they improved their internal menu as well) and I'm intrigued about the updated IBIS as well.
So a little letdown, but not completely deflated, I still have hope
As usual the hype and speculation have overstated what will be delivered, but I'm still pleased. The E-M5 is starting to look like exactly what I was looking for as an upgrade for my E-P1.
Even though some of my hopes were dashed (I'm getting used to it), I think this is still a very good option. I had been considering a GH2, but there are some Oly features that I was really going to miss, probably the biggest one being the IBIS. I like the fact that I can use some MF glass and still be able to get some IS. I am also going to be interested in the improvements to continuous AF... here are the latest specs just posted on www.43rumors.com
Here are some new camera specs:
1.44 million dot viewfinder. Same specs as the VF-2 but with new “tweaks” -> Olympus seems to love tweaking…sensor and EVF
Fastest AF of any mirrorless AND DSLR camera!
MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 or Jpeg motion recording
9fps without the super fast AF. 4.2 with super fast AF enabled.
5-axis image stabilisation
610 million dot 3 inch OLED screen tilted by max. 80° upwards or max. 50° downwards
HLD-6 external battery grip
MMF-3 Four Thirds mount adapter
FL-600R electronic flash
Comes in a silver or black body.
In Stock in April 2012 for 1099.00 Euro ($1200 Dollars in USA) or with 12-50mm kit lens for 1,299.00 Euro ($1450)
That’s 500 Dollar less than the Fuji X PRo 1 ($1699 at Amazon). $400 more than the GH2 ($800). Will it sell well at that price? Everything depends from the final REAL image and video quality. ...Show more →
So basically we are looking at a weather sealed m4/3 camera with a built in EVF, pretty decent sensor (judging by the GX1), improved IS, and a bunch of nice lenses available.
Doesn't sound bad at all. Wish the price was closer to 1k EUR with a kit lens, but looking at the current E-P3 pricing it does not seem unreasonable...
They are also stating the first external battery grip for MFT...hmmmm
A new MMF-3 adapter, curious if they did any tweaks that might allow AF? (Hey, like I said, I'm always hopeful)
Doesn't appear the EVF is going to be as revolutionary as previously discussed, but still like that it is built in.
3" OLED screen could have been higher resolution, but they are still better than Panasonics.
$400 more than the GH2 and it uses the same sensor, I don't know, they better wow us with other features, but based on the above, I'm beginning to have my reservations. Not that I wouldn't buy it, but I want to make sure I was getting my money's worth out of it. When Oly released the 12mm f/2 many said it is a fantastic lens but overpriced by about $200 or so, recent weeks have shown prices drops on this lens, and I think the E-M5 may fall into the same trap, about $200 more than what it should sell for and we may see price drops within 6 months.
The best deal looks like the kit with the 12-50, if you are interested in that lens (I am curious about it) then you save $250 off the lens which is selling for $500 right now...

I think what we are looking at, and this is somewhat confirmed by the "E-M5" name and some of the leaked images, is something in-between the Pen cameras and the E-series DSLR's. Essentially, Oly, is re-packaging of a bunch of off-the-shelf, existing technologies into a revised hybrid package.

First, we're still on the rumor side of things; yet, they have a new IBIS, they've apparently adapted the GX1 sensor in their own way, the VF is probably not exactly the same as the VF-2, focus should be imporoved somehow, body is new etc. etc.
It might not be what everybody would like it to be, but hardly a concoction of 'off the shelf' parts and technologies.
