NEX 7 is looking better and better.
Well no, it looks just the same as before, but the Fuji sounds like it might be too expensive, especially considering some of the niggles of the X100. I am not willing to take that large a risk on an unknown and expensive camera, so I will wait for the initial reviews, the in-depth reviews, and the first wave of enthusiast to buy, as well as the first wave of disappointeds to sell, before making up my mind.
Samples seem kind of squishy as far as resolution which is surprising considering the lack of AA filter. Colors a fantastic though but I'm not seeing anything remarkable.
The samples are just Jpegs so it's difficult to tell too much about detail. Nothing jumps out from a resolution standpoint of being that different from any other camera. What does immediately strike me as being noticeably better is the color and tonality - looks like what I see using Leica glass on my A900.

Darn, was all set to resist but then Fuji had to go and mention they have plans for 12 lens in the next 3 years, with a 14mm lens coming out sometime in later 2012, which would be a 21mm equiv (and a favorite focal length of mine) so now I may seriously have to look at buying one
Yes, Fuji carefully looked at what Sony has done with their NEX lens line and decided to do the opposite!
f*** it, I'm going to pre-order this thing when I can. I don't care for the 50mm equivalent lens so it's really only $400 more then I planned on anyway.

a wise choice, seeing the comparison in size between the NEX-7 and fuji makes it no contest for me though. the NEX-7 is on the border of being too big, the fuji would have to be treated like a dslr – might be a decent replacement for a dslr though if you don't need FF. if only i could put the fuji lenses on my NEX.
Here is a new site on x-com, with new and quite good- looking samples but not full rez. I like the natural look of the colours, specially the 35mm samples are looking gorgeous - did I say natural (and yet intense, just look at the food shot) http://fujifilm-x.com/x-pro1/en/
@sebboh: Nex-7 on the border of being too big? I think it is already way too small for those lenses.

which lenses? certainly not the fuji ones. to each there own though, i've had many people with smaller hands than me tell me at length how they need a pro-sized dslr to fit their hands, so i think i must just handle a camera differently.

The area talking about each lens is pretty great. Good info there. From the sound of it each lens is designed to be as close as possible to the sensor.
This is a weird bit of info regarding the aperture blades of each lens...
・The diaphragm blades also have a unique cross-section shape.
They are manufactured using a molding system rather than press processing to minimize the effect of the blade's cross-section area on the lens's internal reflection, thereby reducing the instances of lens flare and ghosting.

Each has a prominent manual focus ring and an aperture dial controllable in 1/3 stop increments (a welcome improvement over the X100), although neither control is mechanically coupled - both focus and aperture are electronically driven 'by wire'.
So the lens is fully electronic, the aperture ring is a gimmick.
Yea, I saw that and was disappointed. I love real manual aperture rings.

Since the Fuji lenses sit even closer to the sensor than NEX native lenses, looks like they will not be able to be used on anything else but the X-Pro1.
I think if you look at the total package size with native lenses (and compact, wide rangefinder lenses are pretty much out for the NEX-7 unfortunately), things pretty much equal out with the NEX. I agree though, both with native lenses pretty much must be treated as DSLR with regard to compactness.
I don't know if Sony will be able to match Fuji's optical abilities, particularly if you look at the design innovation of the Fuji X lenses. They have large rear elements and tiny waist lines, almost like symmetrical LF wide angle lenses, but much more complex. This design plus having the lenses sit so close to the sensor was pretty genius. Real optical innovation!
