Looking for a good source for pre cut archival mats. Also a resource for frames. Did a google search and found Redi Mat. Anyone have experience with this company or another one that would work? Thanks.

I use documounts, great service and the double mats and black frames will really make your shots look great, especially if your selling them at art shows like I do.

Since you're in Oakland, close to the San Francisco frame shop where I work, it might be worthwhile for you to see if custom cut mats will work better for you. I don't use precut mats, as you can imagine, and I'm biased from being in this business. However, I don't know what the price difference would be (and don't work in the customer service area), but you can always get a quote for your project, and we have a place to park.
Besides getting mats tailored to your pictures regardless of the size, you might also get a better match as far as mat color. For example, we carry Rising mat boards, which are 100% rag, and the white color comes in several subtle variants: white, warm white, antique white, Olde white, polar white.
We do small and large jobs (including companies you would recognize). I'm not trying to push a sale -- just trying to help out.

Documounts is awesome. 20 custom cut 12x16 mats for $20 and 20 blank ones for $16. The custom metal frames are awesome and inexpensive as well. A 20x30 frame that can be custom cut down to 1/16" goes for $25.

I cut my own mats but I get the matboard and foamboard from Redi-Mat and haven't had any problems and only heard good things about them. I used Matcutters for some custom size mats and they were very good also, but the shipping cost is less for me using Redi-Mat.

I like Mattes and More. They do a great job and the people are realy nice to work with. They are in Colorado, but they have fast ship and wrap everything well.

I googled matting, and came across Documounts. I then realized they were local (8 miles from my house). I talked to them on the phone, and they walked me through my order (options). A week later i picked up the order, and the quality is out of this world!

Do they have a will-call counter? I couldn't find anything on their site that says they do and I'm not entirely sure from your blog post. It would cost me less time & money to drive there than ship to my door.
