i have to say here that everyone has their own conception of what one is

+1

For me and most people a travel tripod is a tripod that they label Travel Tripod. And it usually has special features to make it small and light. Like the Gitzo or Benro travel tripods. I would not call a series 5 gitzo a travel tripod just because you use it abroad a few times

I shoot all the time with my 800/5,6 lens. But I would not use my lens on the Sirui tripod
Actually I'm travelling when I'm writing this. I'm in Thailand and S.E.Asia......

-------------------------------------------------
Now this is intriguing.
800/5.6 and handheld? for 2 seconds? or it is a mirror lens? of course you don't have to use the Sirui, there are many others out there for this lens travlelling, I mean for me, what is for you, no thing? just your muscles? be honest! What is your secret? I am so eager to be/become a super man.
You are from Thailand? how big/tall/heavy/strong are you really? I admit I haven't seen every one on the planet.

I bet you never touch what you have in your arsenal: just a quote from yor profile:

RRS
Gitzo
Arca-Swiss
Markins
Wimberley
Kirk
Manfrotto
Epson

I have also posted about two hundred bird pics in the wildlife forum here, shot with my 800 lens. You will find pics of my equipment in my website. And thousends of pics from Thailand.
And who is saying I'm shooting handheld at 2 sec shutter speed?

gentlemen

please dial it back a bit lest we get the lock out.

it's much better to just walk away from this one rather then have it shutdown for us.

@nugeny,

Can't belive you came up with those accusations!! You should apologize. I have seen hundreds of posts with Kingfisher birds, shot from Lars 800/5,6 lens. Both here and in other forums.

I own two Gitzos and a Feisol. The Feisol cost about a third of what the Gitzos cost and appears to me to be just as well made, easy to use, and so far (about three years) has held up as well as the Gitzos which are about 12 years old. They're very different tripods - the Feisol model I bought is very light and was bought for hiking only - so a direct comparison isn't meaningful but I've been quite impressed with the Feisol.

Feisols aren't made in China, they're made in Taiwan if that matters. The customer service has been excellent. One of the little caps on the end of a leg came off in some muck, I asked the U.S. dealer for a replacement, about four days later I had a box containing about ten of the caps delivered by registered mail to my doorstep at no charge. The U.S. dealer for Feisol is a guy named Kerry Thalman who's well-known and well-regarded in large format photography circles. Sorry I don't have a link, just google his name and his web site will come up if you're interested.
