yes I understand this but having a 3+ pound lens hanging from the camera mount can't be all that good for the mount. The old style strap use to connect to the lens so the strap was holding the weight of the lens
3 lbs? not at all an issue. if you wish you can get an additional base mount so you can screw that to the lens base mount rotate appropriately and use that way.
I ordered one the other day. I had been thinking about getting another black rapid strap, to go along with the RS-4 I have, but could never decide what I wanted. This looks like it will be a little more packable and less cumbersome for carry-around stuff. I have no complaints with the BR when working, but when walking around it's a bit bulky.
I would also like some sort of update on this. I only ordered recently, but haven't heard anything about the people at the front of the line either who should have gotten them in "early January".
I currently have the UPStrap HD w/Vectran connectors and it's great for my A900 w/CZ 135. For those that don't know about this model, it's all Kevlar webbing with mil-spec plastic quick releases. NO chance of scratching with any sort of handling.
Still, this new gadget looks pretty useful and I like that I may be able to attach it to my RRS L-Bracket vs the tripod socket directly. My only concern is the metal pieces that could scratch my cam or lens when I stuff the whole lot into my ThinkTank Retro-10 bag.
Well, me being 'me' I may order one under the 'just because' rule. So many straps and so little time...
I just got back from CES where I dropped in on the PMA show. There was another maker of a sling-style strap with a sliding connector. And located within spitting distance from this booth was the manufacturer of that other strap (it's black in color). I wonder if there were any words exchanged like, "Didn't you know that I invented that thingie back in the mid-1800's? It's mine and you can't have it."
Well, after years of debating (Ok, 24 hours) I ordered the Cinch. Took my go-fast and very nice UPStrap HD off my A900 and attached it to my critter-comfort Tom Bihn Co-Pilot carry-on bag, and it was a perfect fit! So much so, that its staying right there. Now I can justify the 70-bucks on another strap. Anyway, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
For what its worth I noticed their website states they started shipments on 12 Jan with a 10-12 day lead time.
Looks like a great product, and I'm a fan of their previous Luma loop strap (very comfortable shoulder pad). If I didn't already have too many camera straps, I might've ordered this one.
However, when they claim this product is a brand new invention: "The result is Cinch. It’s like no other strap out there."
Actually, this does appear to be similar although not as refined as what I viewed in the Cinch video. I took a chance on the order so hopefully it works as well as it appears. They offer a 'no questions asked' return policy so aside from shipping, it should be fairly painless.
P.S. Frankly, it's going to be tough to beat-out my UPStrap so I remain a bit skeptical.
