copied from the Canon forum.(sorry for the duplication, but thought I really belongs here.)

Some interviews today, looks like it was just a few questions/tidbits.

Well, confirmation from Fuji that the sensor size is APS-C on the Fuji LX.

Ricoh will release a K mount GXR module, so Pentax lenses can be used on the GXR - natural causes after the purchase.

Ricoh will release a dedicated B&W camera.

Canon will release a mirroless in 2012 - possibly a fixed lens camera. Possibly a zoomlens fixed.(Translation says: no need to exchange lens).
I interpret the horrible translation from google/xitek as: This will eat into the market share of the mirrorless market

Pentax wants all coming dSLR to have 100% viewfinders, in the Head Honchos mind is "only" a full frame dSLR and full frame 645.

I haven't had time to read through the whole pdf, just the snippets provided in the links and I concentrated on my own selfish interests.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more responses to this thread, some pretty large things are being suggested here (mainly with Ricoh and Pentax).

A lot of this stuff has already been mentioned in other threads - Pentax FF, likelihood that Canon would have to do something in the mirrorless market - but it's certainly nice to get confirmation on a number of things.

Ricoh + Pentax is going to be very fruitful.

My big question is what's going to set the Fuji APS sensor apart from the competition? They claim better than FF performance so are we going to see new sensor technology? Guess we will find out by the middle of January at CES.

I think that Fuji is coming out with a new sensor technology with some sort of "organic sensor" consisting of a flat polymer base on top. With organic they meant some sort of polymer and not organic as in that they are growing sensors.

I am making parts of this up as I go along but that is the way I remember it. Will try and find the link.

EDIT: there;

http://www.petapixel.com/2011/11/17/fujis-upcoming-mirrorless-camera-may-pack-a-revolutionary-organic-sensor/

So, APS-C size and better performance than current FF sensors in every department.
Intriguing. But, why no full frame sensor?

Yes, I have read about the technology but I would be surprised if it's ready for commercial use this soon. If so, it could be a game changer.

Yes, we'd all be stuck with our obsolete technology. Resale value halved over the weekend and the CCD vs CMOS will be a triangle drama with the organic, OCMOS. Or OCMOSIS with built in stabilizer.

I am up for a game changer. I still have some $ left from my selling the M9 and some lenses. I can bite, just throw me a juicy bait and I'll go hook, line and sinker. But don't jerk me off Fuji.

My main concern after playing with the X10 is that Fuji has one or two things to learn about user interface from their competitors. Why not hire a FM forum member to iron out the kinks?

No word from Canon about a 40MP pro camera to replace the 1ds3 for the landscape photographer who doesnt have the $ to go MFDB?
Seems like they have no strategy. Looks like they will release 5d3 after Nikon 800,pretty pathetic since Canon was the first with greater than 20MP sensor with 1ds3. Well before Sony A900 and NikonFF lines.

I'm in wait and see mode with respect to the Fuji. If their camera will only feature their own lenses, then I'll want to see detailed reviews of those lenses before giving up any of my own, and giving up choice, in exchange for theirs. Their sensor would have to be really, really, stunning and be applicable to what I like to shoot before I'd just heave it all up and become a slave to one maker.

The sticky aperture blade issue hit my own X100 so Fuji, for me, needs to prove to me they learn from such issues.

Of the X100, NEX and GXR so far I like the UI and physical controls on the GXR the best. I think the GXR can be improved ergonomically a little more - the grip could be better; maybe enabling use of the front wheel control for other purposes would be appreciated by some too. Little refinements would mean a lot.

With Fujifilm I worry they'll stick to the X100 styling and placement of controls which was only partly successful. It is surprising they still haven't put Auto ISO on the ISO menu yet, proving to me they need to learn about software UI. How hard could that be?

I find the user interface and overall ergonomics much superior on the x100 as compared to the NEX I owned. Ricoh does get things right though. I noticed this when I owned the GR-D. Wonderfully thought out interface. Most of the silly stuff with the X100, such as the location of the auto ISO, never really bothers me since I only had to set it once. Beyond the overly complicated menu, the actual placement of the physical controls is pretty damn good imho. I use the thumbs up and can't imagine using the camera without it though.

Sticky aperture issue also hit me but I was pretty impressed with the 48 hour turn-a-round repair. At least Fuji seems to have superior professional service (in the U.S. at least) should you need it.

Give me the lens quality of the x100 in all interchangeable lenses, faster/ more accurate AF, IQ > my Sony A900 plus similar body/ styling as x100 and honestly I would be super happy.

Here are a few links to discussions about this rumoured technology by Fuji:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1000&message=36436375 (and the following replies, partly by Eric Fossum, a leading engineer in the field of cmos sensors):

Another posting from the same thread:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1000&message=36426960
Quotation regarding 3 layer sensors: "
The Nikon one has Foveon like color problems. The Fuji one cures everything: better color, no differential noise, but several of us (myself included) believe it can't be built economically. "

It will be interesting to wait what they manage to produce at a marketable price. I am not hoping for the "real deal", but I'd love to see myself wrong.

I'm not sure we should get too hung up on Fuji's marketing speak. Somewhere on one of the Sony sites, I also saw Sony calling the NEX-7's sensor "full frame quality," or something along those lines.

I really hope that Fuji doesn't pull a Samsung NX with the mount, because this could end up being really cool for M lenses.

I have high hopes for the organic sensor, my only worries are how stable it is, will the organics breakdown in a few years?

Re Canons 1DsIII replacement, I think they have 2 or more bodies in development and are waiting to see what Nikon and Sony do before they commit to one.

Someones recap here:

A quick but better translation:

Olympus:
- Working on a new mirrorless camera that is very “Olympus-like”, but not PEN.
- The viewfinder is the key.
- E-5 replacement is in the works.

Canon:
- Does a mirrorless camera really need exchangeable lenses?
- Can we make a compact or DSLR that can beat the mirrorless cameras? (they believe they have it)
- Higher sensitivity rather than high resolution (probably refers to quality over megapixels)

Sigma:
- Expanding the DP-series line-up of cameras
- SD-series cameras will use APS-C sensors
- Mirrorless camera lenses in the works

Sony:
- Smaller E-mount lenses coming
- One hundred mega pixels
...Show more

"Canon:

- Can we make a compact or DSLR that can beat the mirrorless cameras? (they believe they have it)"

Sounds like Canons "mirrorless" will be a G13 with a larger sensor.

"Pentax:
- Mirrorless for full-frame and 645"

Mirrorless FF
Come on Pentax, you can do it!!!!

Mirrorless 645
could be interesting, Canon does have the tech to make larger cmos sensors, maybe others do too.

Douglas; yes, proprietary is dead end.

Lightshow; the term organic might be misleading, it is some sort of polymer/polyanilin and will not degrade that fast. Apparently the compound itself was discovered 150 years ago and it is the most researched polymer the last 50 years, according to this wiki, which seems well substantiated:

I think it all comes down to if the lenses are class leading/ best available. If Fuji goes with a leaf shutter, then they will be proprietary. Of course, the perfect example of a great proprietary leaf system is the Hasselblad V - lenses so good that one did not feel they were not using the best available. If the lens range and quality was that good, I would really have no issue going proprietary...and Fuji does have a very good track record with optics.

http://www.petapixel.com/2011/11/17/fujis-upcoming-mirrorless-camera-may-pack-a-revolutionary-organic-sensor/
So I googled panchromatic organic photoelectric conversion layer + Polyaniline

And found:
http://www.faqs.org/patents/app/20110132453
Which centers on Organic Thin Film Solar Cell
Now that I think about it, the issues are not that different, efficient conversion of photons into electrical energy.
It's interesting how discoveries in one field, benefits in one area(solar cells), also benefit us in another(photography sensors), how cool is that.

Sure, but it will take time for them to develop a line with real breadth. Will they have an 18, 23 (thinking X100), 28, 35, and something longer straight out of the gate? Will they all be winners, and if they don't offer a focal length that one needs or desires, then who do you turn to?

I'm not too troubled by leaf shutters. There are pros and cons to having them in the lenses for sure but I'd be happy with the pros.

What bothers me most is the proprietary nature of the system if they go this way. I used not to be troubled by this, as I bought big into the Rollei 6008i system, but the fate of Rollei in a way has tainted my openness for going this route again with a less than dominant player. I realize Fujifilm isn't Rollei but there are no guarantees these days.

If nothing else, going proprietary means Fujifilm may not have any help from third party lens makers, ever, or not until years down the road if/when the system has proven to have an enduring life. As a result photographers will be entirely dependent on the one company to deliver on what and when they choose to deliver, and that does bother me a little. Ok, more than a little.

What they deliver would have to be pretty unique and deliver obvious benefits to cause me to want to switch directions from a more open to a more closed system. Now... if they were to adopt the M mount and enhance it to deliver their own proprietary AF (and release the specs to third parties) but still support MF lenses...

A former employer of mine had a corporate motto, coined by its chief technology architect: Commodity economics always win.
