I am curious how well this works. As you know, I like the Lensbaby effect and its very much a matter of taste.
For this image, the question for me is whether the mouth is a problem, too much blur out of the sweet spot.
I wish I had my 50 1.4 with me. I may seek him out again.
What do you think?
I'm in agreement with you. For some portraits this might work, but in this situation, I think it's a little to dreamy. It should probably be more focused and gritty.

Just coming back to this photo for another round of looks and maybe more feedback if it hasnt outworn its welcome. Sounds like it works as is for you.
I think the mix of the sharp harsh reality and the blur work well together here. Might like to see just a little less blur on the mouth and beard areas but it still works nicely as is.
