I took Neil vanNiekerk's master class and a David Beckstead class about competition print prep. The classes are limited to like 50 so it's much different from platform classes.

Neil's class was good if you're familiar with and like his lighting techniques, it's a good chance to go through them with him and be able to ask questions.
The Beckstead class was helpful. Nothing groundbreaking but if you enter prints for competition it was helpful to hear a judges perspective on things. I wish he had covered more on mounting, paper, density, etc... But it was more about visual aspects the judges look at.
This will be my thrid year in a row. Aside from a great time in Vegas it's a great week to meet others and share ideas and see what's new and exciting. The classes are certainly worth listening to and take what you want from.
Um. I'm not sure I would call it that. It wasn't from WPPIs perspective. Just the perspective of someone who has judged competitions and offered some insight into how print competition works and what they look for?

Really? Which ones? I've never been in a master class that did any selling. Interesting.
Off the top of my head, Alycia Alvarez and Jim Garner's wife (forgot her first name). Both heavily pushed their products for sale in the back. PLUS classes definitely don't as far as I know. It's been a while since we did one of those though.

Is everyone staying at the MGM? Any hotel recommendations that are within walking distance with a better rate?
Stayed @ Hooters across the street last year, recommended by Spencer. It was LITERALLY across the street and the walk from one of the MGM towers to the convention center was longer than my walk. MUCH lower rate than @MGM... and the room was perfectly fine.
Hooters restaurant built-in... which a few peeps from MGM came to for wings/beers...
I have asthma and can't STAND smoke. Someone told me (after we got back, of course ) that there was a "smoke-free" route from the MGM tower to the convention center, but I obviously did NOT take that the few times I did walk through MGM and it was atrocious. Walking across the street from Hooters was 100% smoke free (well peeps were smoking in the gaming area of Hooters, which I did have to cross... but that was 100 feet... as opposed to the 10,000 feet I had to walk through MGM :P
Does wppi have items for sale at the trade show such as ImagingUSA? I have been to imaging 3 times and always walked away with backgrounds, radio poppers etc...
Looking to purchase another 24-70 lens.

Yes, nearly all of the vendors will be selling their merch. I can't remember what canon and nikon
do, if they sell on site, or you have to order and it's shipped to you. I tend to think you have to
place an order. for lenses.
