Bob - superb ice shots, and i would echo the sentiment above - this has been a excellent thread.
We seem to be drifting towards a spring feel to the imagery, and i have to confess that winter is trying to turn into spring here too, which is unusually early. Still, just as reminder that this is a "winter" thread:

A cold miserable day with so so light.
Got m'self an OK duck with 1DMkIIN + 400 DO.
And then a screaming albino falcon with 100-400 @ 400mm wide open.

15Bit - that's a fine photo - love the angle.
Thanks. Its actually a blend (done via LREnfuse) from 2 handheld shots as the dynamic range completely exceeded the camera's ability to capture.
This is one of the things we do to wile away the winter months. The local "Easy Rider" is my boss. Not sure he's yet forgiven me printing / framing this and putting it in the lunch room:
Fine photography by all, including John.
John seems to be into wildlife shooting big time as of late, with respectable results.
For example, that falconiform (or a kite) is framed very nicely and caught in a nice pose, it's only that the light was shining from the wrong end, as it often happens.
I guess 5DMkIII and/or 1DX should help John perfect his capture methods.....I certainly hope they will do so with mine.
Here are four shots from today, the birds are becoming increasingly active, and it does feel like the spring is here.
Since the decision has been made for us to move on, i shall make my last contributions to the thread. A couple of nice English december morning landscapes.
