p.3 #1 · One month shooting with the System 1

I've played with the J1 a bit and really like it because it's very fast and easy to use. Even though there are better cameras for the money, the fun factor is very high on the J1 because the image quality is good and it's practically mindless to use. It's like the purest P&S experience ever, with the ease-of-use of a normal P&S without the slow AF and poor image quality. I'm getting one soon.

That's the most original response I've seen to the question, thanks. My own experience was not so kind, where you found it clean and effortless I found the ergonomics damnably horrid. Would be interesting if you posted a follow up after a few days of use.

At the current price point there is no chance of me buying into this system, and folks can point to the future all they want but locking in the lens mount with this size sensor today, knowing what they know about sensors says they have zero interest in going bigger with the 1 and that will forever be its curse. The zen master says "time will tell"....

No problem. I'll post up once I grab one.

I should clarify what I wrote, though. I don't think it's necessarily so easy to change settings and fiddle with this and that, ergonomically or intuitively, but instead it just makes me want to press the shutter release and forget all about those things.

With my E-PL2, for example, I find myself being too technical and taking the camera too seriously, which often brings me to a point where I feel like I might as well just pull out my D700.
